Travelling in 2017

El cascabel

El cascabel
If you don't know what a cascabel is, you will soon discover it. Today, the 10th of March, we decided to go early exploring a new trail on the map. We left at 8h30 and went back through between the post and the gate at the end of Calle Manglar, Caseta 8. Easily this time, becoming pros of squeezing through somewhere to get where we want. We started on the BSTrail, elevation gain about 155 m. I don't know who gave the name of these trails, maybe it referes to the numerous somewhat fresh cow patties where...

Second day on the trail

Second day on the trail

2nd day on the trail
Since our first adventure on the trails in the jungle, we had two other ones. The second was far the most enjoyable. We had a map, we left at 9 o'clock, a bit late because it is hot when the sun is up. It would be better to leave around 7 o'clock in the morning to be back earlier. We had water and we found the beginning of the trail easily except we had to crawl under rusty barb wires. Not too bad. The first part of El montéon trail is quite steep but...

Los Ayala, Nayarit

Los Ayala, Nayarit

Los Ayala is a very small town near Rincón de Guayabitos on the Jaltemba Bay. It is quiet during the week but suddenly very busy on weekends. It is the favorite destination for Mexican families and it is also one of our favorite. It is a safe place even at night. The town is quite charming with the hills all around, the lush vegetation, the dusty streets, the sandy beach and the transparent water of the ocean, even if there are too many empty hotels and bungalows and too many new ones under construction.

We rent a "bungalow" at the El...

Jaltembe Bay, Nayarit

Jaltembe Bay, Nayarit

We left Barra de Navidad after spending 4 weeks with our friends from Victoria BC, 4 weeks spent at the beach, walking in the streets, going to restaurants and visiting one of the biggest and luxurious hotel in the area. My friend and I tried the gorgeous swimming pool without being disturbed like if we were customers and not a kind of stow-aways. We got a lot that day for our 40 pesos of transportation by boat. The Mexican woman at the local restaurant laughed when we told her the story and suggested that we take her with us next...

Michoacán coast

Michoacán coast

Caleta de Campos, state of Michoacán
We arrived mid-afternoon in Caleta. We came for the first time last year and we met again good people: Mexicans, very few Canadians and Americans. Caleta is not at all touristy. It is a very small fishing village built on a point. The bay on one side is absolutely gorgeous and because of the brakewater the waves are not too big (usually). I love swimming in the ocean but get scared by big waves. I am a bit of a chicken but I'd rather be an alive chicken than a drowned one. The...
